Meaningful Watershed Education Experiences are offered to all 6th grade students in both Buckingham and Cumberland Counties.
Each year the District sponsors a poster contest with a new theme. Great opportunity for K-12 students to win some cash prizes! We also team up with Virginia Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts to offer a photo contest open to people of all ages.
The Virginia Envirothon is a team based natural resources competition for high school students. Students who participate learn stewardship and management concepts and work to solve real world environmental problems. The program is field-oriented, community based and gives students an opportunity to work with natural resource professionals.
The District offers a $2,000 dollar scholarship each year to two seniors in Buckingham & Cumberland Counties.
Check out the educational activities and resources on this page. New activities and resources are added on a regular basis. The District also has resources available for teachers to borrow.

Many of our programs and field trips are funded through a grant from the Chesapeake Bay Restoration Fund. Since 1992, revenues from sales of the Chesapeake Bay preservation license plate have been deposited into the Chesapeake Bay Restoration Fund.
